Unfortunately, family worked and therefore, we had to put her in this Assisted Living Facility. Additionally, she has not walked since and was afraid to do so following this incident. She is still in the Norwegian Christian Home and and we consider it a terrible accident and something that cannot be undone.
If this facility can not meet the needs of their residents, they should hire more help or take on less residents. The only good thing about this place was that it was very clean. Norwegian Christian Home and Health Center felt more like an old-fashioned type of nursing home, and it wasn’t really accessible. They had a beautiful courtyard with a beautiful pond, but it didn’t seem to be very well utilized. They were larger rooms but not very well appointed. They had a little cafĂ© area that was nice and pleasant.

She was left on her back a good part of the day and not given the rehab attention required. Once I removed her from this place she improved greatly. Look I know these people are over worked and you could see some we’re doing their best.

At home, she was able to function better because she was familiar with her surroundings. The administration and staff of Norwegian were always there for us. The only thing I wish that was told to me personally was how the end of AD can be so brutal. Also, I believe there should be more facilities that cater to the middle stages of AD. I went to Norwegian Christian Home, and my girlfriend tells me that they're very caring and attend to their residents. It was very immaculate and the staff was unbelievable.

A Place for Mom is paid by our participating communities, therefore our service is offered at no charge to families. The staff are okay; they are not very attentive of the residents. They can be rough with them and withhold residents' possessions, like glasses or hearing aids. My family was extremely lucky to have been given a room at this facilty for my mother. We did not realize until she was in, how much her AD had progressed.
